Pink Salmon, Alaska, 2002
Adak Island is remote, to say the least. Located on the far western end of the Aleutians near Russia, it is known as \the birthplace of wind'. It is a harsh, cold landscape. The salmon don't mind, though. Each fall, thousands crowd virgin streams to spawn in a landscape unscathed by human activity.
