The Ultimate Scavenger, Alaska, 1999
"A fed bear is a dead bear." This is the mantra of bear biologists everywhere. Nowhere is this more true than in Prudhoe Bay, Alaska, where the oil industry leaves lots of leftovers. This leads to bears becoming dependent on humans for food, and their rummaging spreads to homes, garages and vehicles. Many 'garbage bears' end up being shot and killed.
