Southwestern gray fox (Urocyon cinereoargenteus scottii) at Southwest Wildlife Conservation Center in Scottsdale, AZ.
This animal is named Frank. He was found as a two-week-old baby in downtown Phoenix. He was behind a chicken coop, and he was wearing a blue cat collar with a bell on it. Somebody had found him and had taken him in as a pet, but he obviously escaped. He’s imprinted on humans and is not releasable to the wild.
Frank is used as an educational animal here at the Center and at schools, where the staff teaches that wild animals teaches that wild animals should not be kept as pets.
