Small-flowered blue-eyed Mary (Collinsia parviflora) from the Figwort family (Scrophulariaceae) at the Cowichan Garry Oak Preserve, an extremely rare type of forest in Canada. This preserve is the largest left and is only thirty acres in size. This flower is a native to British Columbia, but not rare and is one of the relatively few flowers in the temperate world to have nectaries (organs that make nectar) on the leaves rather than inside the flower. This feature is thought to enable a symbiosis with ants. The ants defend the plant in order to have access to the nectar.
