A European common cuttlefish (Sepia officinalis) at the Riverbanks Zoo in Columbia, South Carolina.
This individual is showing off one of the most incredible camouflage adaptations in the animal kingdom. Thanks to specialized cells in their skin, they are able to change their shape, texture and color patterning to seamlessly blend into the surrounding environment.
